 Subject: 97 5.2 waterpump

My mechanic{new} changed my water pump for me. The problem is,he swapt a bolt on pulley for a preesed on pulley,and now my serpentine belt is slipping and screaming like a bitch! he says there's no real diff. And it looks to be the same size pulley. But why is it slipping? [yes Iv'e tried belt dress.] Do I just need to change the length or type of belt or what? SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!! I love my truck-don't trust my FORMER mechanic!

Check your tensioner...It could be bad. Also just my own opinion but I Never use belt dressing. It just seems to make a squeal worse

Pulleys are either grooved or smooth. I'd make sure it is either smooth or grooved as it should be. I had the berings in a pulley go bad and had multiple stores try to sell me the wrong pulley.
