Subject: Cutting cats off (need help) IP: Logged
Message: I have a '01 Dakota CC R/T. I need to know what I can do after I cut off my pre-cats. I am going to leave the 3rd cat on. The muffler place told me I need to get a Y-pipe or they could make one for me. They said a premade one would probably flow better. So where can I get one already made. Or is there any alternative solution rather than getting a new y-pipe? Also when you take the cats off and it throws a signal do you lose any performance? Please help ASAP thx

Message: hey i have an '02 r/t. ill tell u wat i did... i bought a jba stainless cat forward pipe made for a 2000 dakota r/t from truckperformance.com. then i went to thefastman.com and got the dual o2 simm box to plug my back 2 o2 sensors into. then i got a y-pipe dual 2" in, single 2.5" out made by magnaflow. then i put a straight piece of 2.5" pipe where the main cat goes and thats it. all 3 cats gone, no computer engine lights, and its been like this for about 8 months. definately helped performance, gas mileage, and sound. u will have t do some cutting however its not an easy job i had to do several temporary fixes before finally getting it all right and getting the parts i needed.

Message: So is the JBA Y-Pipe, although for a 2000 Dak, still a direct fit for an '01?

Message: yah alot of the reason piping will fit for most gen3 daks is because there is no difference after the headers the body and frame are the same
