chromeboy, if you want to get around the governor, all you have to do is turn the key like your starting your truck. It won't engage the starter, and your speedo will drop to zero, and your free to go as fast as you want. A better way to do this would be to get your PCM flashed but if you don't want to spend the money on that, this is a cheap and easy solution. I usually don't travel faster than 80mph, but when I'm racing someone, and my truck stops at 98mph, it really pisses me off. So I just turn the key and keep going. I've never heard of anyone having any trouble because of this, but try it at your own risk.

If you have a 5 speed manual DON'T try the key trick it WILL engage the starter. I've momentarily tried it in the driveway with my truck running and the starter kicked in. Maybe this only works on automatics. Anyone with a manual got this to work?

Thankyou to all whom have replied...Tony that key trick is cool, but I haven't tried it yet. I don't suggest that anyone drive this fast in the first place but if I have to pass more than 3 cars I need the speed. I plan to complain to the dealer in the morning, probably won't get me anywhere but it is worth the bitch! My Dakota isn't near fast emough for me, but then I'm coming off a 12 sec mustang! Kind of wish I went with the Hemi-Fullsize. Hey what do you do if you want your speedo to come back on? Shut off & restart?

chromeboy, When I do the key trick, the speedo goes to zero with the key turned, and as soon as I let go of the key, the speedo comes back on and functions normally. Does yours stay at zero? Oh yeah, the radio goes off too.

CH4 Ngv, mine is an automatic, and I've never been with anyone in a standard that tried it. What year is yours, mines 02.

as far as i know you can not flash the 4.7 but I know of two way you can change this 1)get the ACE chip. 2) get different tires that are rated faster then go to the dealer there is three different tire setting they can program in to the computer. I know this works because I have done it.

I wish.... i'm pretty sure my 255/45 r18 dunlop SP sport 9000's shoud have been enough of an upgrade, but the dealer won't touch them. I've heard it's more of a driveline issue.........

Message for Tony...I have an 03 automatic and from Windsor, On Canada. I have done alot of research on trucks before I bought this one and my final decision was Either the Chevy Avalanche or the Hemi-full size. Final decision was a size issue but now I'm a little power hungry and obviously financially challenged. Future persuits will be towards Headders dual exhaust, white face guages (they should have already had this by the way!! Air induction...Thanks for the information.

Anyone notice performance advantages with different octane fuels or synthetic oils?? I have tried 89 octane and the truck seems to run smoother and a little better throttle response. By the way HATE the slight hesitation of the throttle off a dead stop...any suggestions?? My truck only has 6000km on it now. Thanks

Mine is a 2000 Quad 5 speed.

Does anyone know if/when Superchips will release their programmer for the 2000 4.7?

What about Hyperchips?
