Subject: Water Made The Truck Stop IP: Logged
Message: ok, looking for some information/help.... I did somthing stupid and drove through a very large water puddle,... no sooner did I come out the other side, the truck stopped running,... I gave about 2 minutes and it started right up,.. sputtered a few times, then started running normal. About 10 minutes later the check engine light came on... Now before I take it to the dealership and they try and sell me a new engine block which I'm sure I don't need, what could be the possible cause of this,... I have a 2001 CC 4x4 4.7L
Thanks for any info....

Message: Please explain "big puddle"
In the mean time, you may want to check to see if water made it into the oil or any other fluids.

Message: Big puddle I have 285/75/16 BGF, I would say once I was in the big puddle they were about 75% covered with water, (depth)... ok, maybe a little bigger than a puddle.....

Message: Find out what the code is (turn the key on then off 3 times), then go to www.obdii.com and find out what it means. I think you soaked the filter. It happened to a buddy of mine, he barely made it out of the mud hole because it was sputtering sooo bad.

Message: Just a note, when you run a very hot piece of metal through water it cools very quickly. If the metal isnt very strong against this form of shock it can become brittle and break. This happens to people now and then when they run through puddles. You run the chance of cracking your engine block when you do this.

Message: Umm....well.......I guess I qualify as an idiot. But hey, I had 240K miles and I had been thinking about a rebuild anyway. The incident just pushed up my plans a bit. Leason learned: Disconnect the snorkel tube from the TB to the grill before traversing deep water. :)

Message: Last time my little engine looking light came on on the dash, after a few start ups while on a trip, it went off by itself.
It didn't say 'check engine' or any words. As soon as I saw it, I was cruising 75, towing my catamaran sailboat, and ALL the gauges read fine, and it was running perfect, Even idled properly when I stopped for gas.
Wahtever the light was on for, it went off by itself, without resetting the pcm, etc. If it runs fine, try resetting, then wait awhile and see what happens.
If it runs fine, gauges are normal, DON'T take it to the stealership.
BTW, how high was the wave off the fender well when you went thru the puddle, you know, like on a slalom waterski?

Message: Hey JH...
I'm a 26 year old kid, on my own computer, in my own home. That would be the same computer I worked my a$$ off to pay for, in the house that I work my a$$ off to pay for.
People come to this site to discuss their passion for performance or ask questions to save some of the money that they work their a$$ off for, in hopes that one day they can afford their own home and don't end up like you...
...Sitting at Mommy's desk surfing for porn when she isn't looking and occasionally pausing to share 2 cents of your miserable existence with people who don't give a F**K what you think.
Do us all a big favor and keep your pre-pubescent crap off our site.
OH... by the way... if you are NOT some insecure little prick still hangin' from Mommy's droopy left one, than you must be fully aware of just how pathetic you really are!!
Have a nice day!!!

Message: God i have to admit that was brilliant comment made by such a hard working DAKFAN.
By the way My age is 26 i act 12 when i want to because i am bored. Like you I own 2 houses a boat two cars a pickup and the list keeps going. The only reason i have that shiit is because i have worked my ass off since i was 13 doing shiit work for one person or another now i have a damn good paying job and a wife that loves to work unlike some of yours i'm sure.
P.s just because i'm 26 and have lived a VERY responsible lifestyle doesnt mean i have to act like it. so go on keep responding to these pathetc posts that i make because you only make my day more entertaining due to the fact that i know that no matter what you say i can and will always have something to say back.
By the way who needs porn it's highly over rated and gets more credit than it deserves. And those of you whom hate it when people write this garbage on these forums, IF YOU DON'T WANT ME POSTING CRAP THEN QUIT RESPONDING, THAT USUALLY WORKS. But since post number 10 on this thread i have felt like it was such a good idea to bug the living shiit out of the guy (Cube_6) that comes begging for help on an issue that he caused all by himself for being such an idiot to do such a thing, but hey like he said, "If I want to light a fire to the damn thing in the middle of central park by god I'm going to do it." BRAVO..Cube_6 you sound like a Mature adult yourself.
By the way those of you who compplain about the worthless post but then decided to post yet ANOTHER worthless post to tell me about it, what does that make you???? Sounds like a hipocrit if you ask me....Atleast I just do it because i feel like.

Message: Whether or not this makes a difference, the same thing happened when i took my dad's truck off roading a few years back. First of all not a good idea with a 2x4, second of all not a good idea with a cracked distributor cap. Got water in the distributor and literally could not go above 30 on the highway where the speed was 65, for about 2 miles, it dried out apparently cause it started picking up speed and running smoother. But boy was my dad pissed at me. Now i have the truck for myself and have had a lot of problems with it, maybe its his way of getting back at me.
