Message: Hey Everyone,
I finally found a web site that sells the Moog Ball joints after calling every auto parts store in the entire city of Austin, TX. The web site is www.rockauto.com. Just push the big red start button to get going and it loads a database. Anyhow, they sell'em for $43.46 each. I can't wait to get them and put them in so I can get rid of that hideous cluncking noise when turning left. I'll let you all know how they work in a few more days.

Message: I have a 99 dodge 4x4 5.2L with 74,000 miles. If you do a search on "Ball Joints" or "popping noise" you'll see hundreds of post about this topic I just wasn't able to find any place that sold Moogs so I thought I'd post that for everyone. Since you're vehicle is still under warranty I'd take it back to the dealer and let them know whats going on. But read some of the other posts first. Good luck.

Message: Update,
I put on my new Moog upper ball joints this weekend 3/2/2002 which took about 5 hours. After buying a 4 inch grinder and one of those fork looking tools to seperate the ball joint from the spindal I saved myself about $190 and have two new tools. The process was relatively easy just time cosuming to grind off the old joints. I cut the boot off the old chrysler ball joint and nothing but dirt poured out of that thing. The old ball joint was so loose I could just wiggle it. The new moog joints that are greasable I couldn't even budge. I posted some pictures at yahoo if anyone else plans on doing this. The Moog ball joints are great and no more popping when turing or going over bumps. Here's the web site with the pictures!

I ordered the ball joints at www.rockauto.com and it took about 4 days to get them.

Message: Hey Andrew,
I really like the my Pro Comp tires about 50 times better than the original Good year tires that came on my truck. I've got about 8000 miles on them and they are wearing very evenly and they work great in the rain on pavement. For off roading light trails and such they are good I haven't gone through mud trails. When Pro Comp came out with that new 32 tire size last year is when I bought them. I bought 3 and got the 4th free so it was a steal. I hope all the pics help you guys out for the ball joint repairs. And that's my girfriend (not wife yet) by the way, great eye candy. We been dating a year this month so I'm planning on asking her to marry me this summer. She's awesome !!!

Message: Bill, even though this is ancient history, did you ever do the lower joints? And is an alignment required or only optional afterwards? Thanks.

Message: I did the upper ones myself which didn't require an alignment afterwords.
I had Pep Boys put the lower ones on for me about 2 months after doing the top ones. If you do the lowers you'll need to get an alignment.
I'm at 97,000 miles now and the moogs are working like a charm. I just remember to greese them about every 5000 miles. Takes like 2 minutes if you have a grease gun.
I've got about 35,000 miles on those pro comp tires now. I'll be lucky if I get another 5000 out of them. I've worn em out. I think I'm going to get to BFG All Terrains next. In my opinion the stock good year tires were better in the rain and I hear the BFG are great in the rain for street use.

Message: Bill,
Thanks for posting those pictures, I had a look at them before I attempted an upper ball joint replacement on my 2002 4x4 Dak at 80000km - and all went well.
I posted the details of my effort in http://www.dodgedakota.net/boards/gen/5614.html

Message: Bill,
I just wanted to thank you for all of the information and pictures you've made available for everyone. I don't know if I'd be attempting to replace the ball joints on my truck if it weren't for the pictures.
Merry Christmas
John
