Look at the November edition of sport truck. They covered the R/T Clubs National Meet. The fastest one there was a 12.02 @ 116 mph. I don't remember the mods, sorry.

I think "Big Bird" a yellow CC R/T ran a 11.5 this weekend at the mopar meet in colorado I think??? That would be the best time I've seen on a street legal R/T.

Big Bird was in Houston last weekend. Same truck as the one in the pics in Sport Truck mag. Supercharged and NOS!

As far as I know Big Bird is the fastest,but there is a guy Scott in Phoenix that I know runs LOW 12's also with no NOS,He has a Vortech though.Its the black reg cab R/T that Duner was towing to the track in the picture he posted a few weeks ago. I know of other R/T's running low 13's but at over 4000 feet.But Big Bird has the highest trap speed I have ever seen.

I think Hersbird is right because the article sais that it usualy runs mid 11s but was having traction problems in Topeka

are they having reliability problems? or are they just too cool to drive them? and dont say well they have to drive hundreds of miles to get to a track.
my friend has a 86 T-type that is his daily driver. dives it every where, including to the track to make 11 sec passes and drives back home playing the radio and blasting the ac.

It is purely a judgement call I think,I dont see anything wrong with towing it,and in Big Birds defense,it was a long drive to topeka.My R/T runs low 14's (for now)and if I had another truck and a trailer in my back yard I would trailer it to shows and the strip,why not,less miles,dirt,bugs and rock chips on the pride and joy R/T.Sounds like a good idea to me.

hey BH-RT, "its purly a jugement call" you are probably right. what mods do you have on your R/T? did you notice a differance after porting your intake manifold? (that is the only mod i remember you having)

Big Bird ran 11.5 in Houston. On that run, he coasted accross the finish line. 1.5 seconds before he crossed the finish line he blew the airhat off and sucked small pieces of metal into the TB. There is no telling what he would have ran.
By the way, Big Bird drove to the track. I firmly believe that Big Bird is the fastest R/T that still uses the 5.9 block in the Country.

I don't know if Ron and Lynda have a website for BigBird. I'll try to find out though.
As for Ron towing the truck, it's always been driven to the local tracks around here and Topeka was an exception. (He even drove it to Houston so that throws the "Trailer" theory out the window.)
Look at it this way, if you drove your truck to the track, it was REALLY fast, and you blew the engine, how would you get home without paying a bunch of money for towing? (Towing your race vehicle to the track makes very good sense money-wise.)

As far as MPG and driveability, a race built truck (I mean a BUILT truck) really isn't very good for daily driving. Wicked cam, high stall, etc. That may be part of it. Wish I had something powerful enough to not be driveable at less than WOT.

Up here in Michigan, most everyone I know drives there cars and trucks to the strip. Usually you don't see trailers until someone is in the 10's or 9's. I once even saw someone who drove a 10 second Grand Nat to the track from about 45 minutes away. I drove my truck (its not all that fast though), ran 15.6, and drove home. But Bernd has a good, no a great point. What if Mr 10sec GN has decided to toss a rod at the 1000ft? Or what if I had Blown my airhat off and, oh wait, no airhat, but hopefully you get the point.

Nick Kramer out of Florida ran an 11.26 @ 123.19 mph! Too bad the truck was totalled, he was shooting for 10s. I would have love to watch the fastest Dakota R/T race the fastest Dakota v6. Go to www.dragtruk.com for more info on his mods.
