Subject: Truck Stalls at Speed IP: Logged
Message: I am stumped here. I have a 99 V8 Dak Sport 2 wheel drive with the 318 in it. I love the thing but this is driving me up a wall. I can be going down the road at any speed (has happened at 75 and 25) and the truck dies. No backfire nothing just dies. When you try to restart it just turns over via starter... doesn't even pop. If you pull the battery cable (neg) and put it back on it will fire up and run again. Same situation if you let it sit for like 10 minutes. Here is what I have done.
New Camshaft position sensor
New Plugs Plug Wires Distributer cap and rotar
New Battery
I am at my wits end on what it could be. I am thinking it may be the brain but I really am looking for other suggestions versus the big dollar unit. It will run fine for a random amount of time and then without warning bam. Any advice is extremely appreciated.

Message: The only code that I get is when the truck dies the odometer reads No bus I don't have a diag tool to run the diag. I wanted to add this earlier but I got called into work.
Thanks again for any help...

Message: Ive had the same stalling for a year and think its the pcm , brain, on a 95 318. sometimes its days to restart. I replaced,,,o2 sensor, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, camshaft position sensor, throttle position sensor, auto shut down relay, coil, and more. two months ago an auto elect shop put a special grease on the computer contacts and harness ends and it went 4 weeks with no shut downs. no codes were ever stored.it is not cured yet but i'm sure its the brain

Message: I had the same problem with my 1999 5.2L it was the PCM, and the dealer HAS to replace it under federal emmission regulations, even though it wasnt under warranty. Mine did the exact same thing as yours but until it happened at the dealers shop I couldnt figure it out. Cost was zero $.

Message: REPEAT, DO NOT REPLACE THE PCM YOURSELF, the dealer will do it at their cost. The Federal Government makes them replace it since the PCM controls the emmissions!

Message: Make sure your fuel pump isn't failing. Next time your engine stalls check the fuel rail for pressure.

Message: I think if it was the fuel pump you wouldn't get the NoBus code, that code means the PCM and engine lost communication somewhere.

Message: Could be a bad connction somewhere - I'd pull any PCM related connections and clean them up with WD40 or similar.

Message: Does it happen when the engine is cold or hot? or does it matter? mine did it only when it was hot.
