Message: here is the honest my honest opionion and if u dis agree you just have no common sense. not all vehicals roll off the line with the same perfomace abilities as others to be honest i really dont care as long as it is a v-8. but when i bought my truck new and i would let the gas flow the truck would break the tires loose and catch traction and they at 2nd gear shift the tires would chirp so i dont know if he just got a low end 318 in 95 but i think mine was a little more to the top end. as far as the 4.7 goes it will here to stay there will be performace parts. i dont see no real diffrence in perfomance between the 2. ohh yes i have look at dyno charts i do know how to read but not all vehicals are going to perform the same if u dont belive me take a hour or 2 to look through the all the posts u can and you will see. both engines are great i already know some r/t guy will jump in so save it the 360 is a great motor too.
it just funny to get ppl rowled up but some pple jus

Message: These arguements are ridiculous. Can you people not be sensible? It is okay to think one engine is better than another, but you cannot say that either the 4.7 or 5.9 are crap. 4.7 5spd is as fast as an RT stock. There is no other arguement. They are both engines to be proud of, and everyone is going to have a preference, but for the sake of your own apparent intelligence, quit making the Dodge community look like a bunch of idiots, and express your preference reasonably. IT IS ALRIGHT TO THINK THE 4.7 IS A GREAT ENGINE WITHOUT SAYING THE 5.9 IS SH1T & VICE VERSA. Both are good, preference is okay. If you really think one of them is a terrible engine, go ahead and tell everyone, but you are making yourself look like a dumba$$ b/c it is fact that they are both great engines.

Message: I had a '92 RC 5.2 auto 3:55 for 8 years before getting my '01 Rc 4.7 5-speed 3:92. The performance of the two trucks were nearly identical. The '01's lower gear and manual tranny makes up for the extra 300 pounds it packs around compared to the '92. All things being equal, the '92 would mortally scream with the 25hp MP computer and free-flow exhaust.

Message: I can only speak from experience with racing against a 318. My friend has a 94' 4x2 auto. ex. cab dakota with the 318, but I don't know what gears he has. I've got a 00' 4x4 auto. reg. cab with the 4.7 and 3.92 gears. When we go nose to nose he beats me everytime in the top end. I seem to beat him everytime in the low end. I think with my tool box, receiver hitches, and 31" tires we're about equal as far as weight goes. I think that the 318 is just a little faster and is a rock solid motor. I think the 4.7 is a good motor, but why replace the 318 when it has proven itself for so many years?

Message: They are all great engines. The 318 has proven itself and we all know that....but as emissions get stricter truck manufacturers are running out options, so they have to come up with cleaner running engines. The 4.7 is a great engine, i've driven a quad cab 4x4 with one a few times. I like the 318 just the same, but like i said, as emissions get tighter, cleaner engines have to be built. i'm sure the 5.9 will be replaced in a few years, just as the 3.9 is getting replaced. So hopefully the dakotas will get a hemi possibly....i just hope they really don't go through with those ugly m-80's (blah)

Message: Its the same reason all auto makers change their motors. more or equal hp from a smaller liter motor. ie better gas milage, less cost. I razz the 4.7 guys just because its a dakota thing. its kinda like sayin were cool because we both drive dakotas. i would rather joke around with a 4.7 then smack the shiat outta a 5.0 or 5.7 person.
