 Subject: rearend gears?

I checked the rearend gears on my truck and the tag around the axels says 8.25 N-TRK (what does the N-TRK stand for) also the gears are listed as 3.55 OPEN-CASED, (what does OPEN-CASED stand for). I know what the 3.55 means and the 8.25, I just need to know what the other means. Thanks for any help.

You dont need to know what that stuff means. All you really need to know is what size your rear end is and what gear ratio your running.

Open-cased might mean it does not have the anti-spin differential, but that's just a guess. Not sure about the other one. Try calling the service dept., they could probably tell you.

from the terminology i am used to... and yes, sorry, its musclecar chevy talk. open cased means a non posi, or no limited slip diff.
