My 2002 5.9 Quad does something strange. Cruising between 40 and 50 it sometimes clunks once or twice with a split-second loss of power like a bad shift solenoid or a rear end trying to lockup. WTF?
I understand that the 3rd to 4th shift can be hard if you run OD in the shift point sweetspot but this is different.

I just bought this truck and getting a little worried about the issues mounting up on it.

Hey guy. I have a 1991 5.2 Xcab, about 4 days ago, i noticed the same clunking/momentary loss of power you're talking about. I checked the trans fluid, ok.... Seems to be fine when the engine is cold, first thing in the am. when the engine warms up, it will clunk between gear 2 & 3 (Auto trans), and then again if i'm cruising, going up hill, and it tried to drop down a gear, it will clunk-up/loose power for a split second, then drop down a gear. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I AM FACING HERE?

Thanks! Bryan from VA
