I have a 2001 V6 Dakota that has a flashing light problem. All of the lights flash--sometimes every second and sometimes a couple of times per minute. Has everyone had to replace a switch?

Has anyone heard of this problem being connected to the gauge lights on the dashboard?

Thanks.

Did anyone get a definate answer on this. Mine is doing the same thing. They are fine until the truck is running for a while, then the flashing returns. I pulled the switch and a relay, and they still flash. I haven't replaced anything yet.

Any more ideas???

My husband checked the alarm and the wiring. He thinks it is the circuit board, which is expensive. I am taking it to a Dodge Dealer tomorrow morning. At least it isn't intermittent, which is hard to reproduce in the service department.

Has your alarm gone off, or has there been any other electrical problem? My "low gas" bell has been repeating rather than the one off every so often until I fill up.

I had a similar problem w/ my 2001 4.7. When I turned on the left turn signal the 4 way flashers would come on. It seemed to do it only in the winter after I had the heat on for 10 or 15 minutes and the cab interior was very warm. Took it to the dealer 2x since it was still on warranty. They were never able to reproduce the problem and said they had never seen it before. It stopped doing it Spring of last year--after I stopped using the heat. I was waiting for it to start again in the Fall but it never did. I guess I lucked out.

Hey RC, I had the same thing , all flashing on right signal. I replaced the combination flasher unit. About $46 . Have to remove the panel under steering column. Three screws on bottom lip and pulls out horizontaly. In there just to the left of the steering column. Hasn't happened again. Found the answer through a search.

So I went out and bought a new headlight switch for my 2001 v8 club cab. I drove it for about 20 minutes, and like clockwork, all the lights started flashing again (headlights, dash lights, dome lights). I continued driving around for about 15 more minutes and it just got worse. They would flash so fast after a half hour that it was almost like the lights were not even on. Good thing they were old country roads and not many people travel them. This is getting rather frustrating. I can't even return the switch because of no electrical parts returns. Any other ideas. Now that I'm out the money for the switch I didn't need, I really don't want to take the truck in. Please Help...

I don't know if this will fix it, but my dealer is going to be installing a CHIME MODULE on Thursday. The diagnostic process they go through found that to be faulty. I will let you know if this fixes the problem.

I will be driving the truck at night before then, so I will probably be flashing and honking as I drive. I understand the frustration completely.

I picked my Dakota up with a new CHIME MODULE ($260 installed) and no flashing lights.

The part was $213 and it took 1/2 hour to install. It took them 2 hours to diagnose the problem at $87 per hour. Total cost $430.

I don't see how the chime caused all that trouble. The second I picked up my title, I went over to the truck and pulled the chime off. It's been in the glove-box ever since. My lights run fine, but I have a '95 model, which means Gen2, not 3.
