Subject: Overspray!!! IP: Logged
Message: Just wondering if anyone out there with an SLT knows thw best way to get primer overspray off of the plastic chrome grill trim? Was working on my sons car and apparantly, wind carried small speckles of white primer on to my grill. Tried Gel Gloss and water. ( didn't work) But I am affraid to put any solvent on it for fears of ruining the chrome finish. Any real help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Message: Try a claybay, Mothers markets a all in one kit, and clay magic also offers a kit. Both can be found at pep boys, the mothers is around 15 and the clay magic is about 10.

Message: Sorry Spelling Bee, Mistakes happen when typing too fast! Sorry you don't have any friendly advise for my problem. ( I guess spelling is too important to you.) Thanks to Enigma for your advise, and I will look for the product. Thanks again.

Message: Clay bar will only work on a surface that has a clear coat. Your chrome is simply a overlay layer of chrome that covers plastic. Don't use a claybar its a waste of time on that. Buy a Chrome polish, "#7 Chrome Polish" works like a charm. I use it on my grill, bumper and exhaust tips and shines them up and removes bug guts, dirt flecks, rust, everything. Buy some for $5 and try it, you really can't lose with the stuff. We just had a overspray problem on the chrome and hood of a black Yukon and the claybar worked for the painted hood, but not the chrome, the polish did that job. Hope this helps.

Message: Had same problem just the other day and used Clay Magic clay bar. Removed it all, from windows, metal surfaces, fiberglass cover, and plastic bug shield. This after buffing compound and polishes had all failed.
