Subject: New Roller Rockers IP: Logged
Message: I just installed an M1 intake and a set of 1.7 Ratio Roller Rockers. Also used Mopar Magnum valve covers. It sounds like I have a loose rocker when I am standing there listening to the motor run. So I took off the valve cover and adjusted the rocker arms again. Everything sounds quiet and I put the valve cover back on and I get that ticking noise. Has anyone else had this problem? The valve covers do have the baffles installed. Do you think it could be hitting the baffle. I put my finger through the hole and touch the baffle, doesn't seem to be hitting. This will be my next move to remove baffle and try again. Thanks for any help.

Message: It could be just an injector clicking.

Message: Let us know what type of performance difference you see with the 1.7's. This is next on my mod list. Any difference in the exhaust sound?

Message: Scott, I'm told the 1.7 rr is the best mod for the money. It's next on my list as well.

Message: I've been having the same problem. I know mine aren't hitting the baffles, it's not that loud. It almost sounds like an exhaust leak, but it's not that either. Someone did mention the injector clicking noise to me though. Who knows.

Message: The 1.7 rockers are a noticeable improvement and make the engine come alive especially at 2000 rpm and above. Fairly easy install and much cheaper and easier than a camshaft. I havent seen a down side.

Message: You said in your post that everything is quiet until you put the valve cover back on. I would try knocking in or removing the baffles and see if that helps.

Message: First off, do you have the Mopar Perf. cast aluminum black wrinkle/polished covers? If so-- they clear the rockers, and you should be fine clearance wise. If not, you need to knock in the baffles on the stock covers (I remove them and weld in new baffles that clear).
What brand rockers?
You will have a slight noise change from stock-- putting on the Mopar covers will amplify the noise.
