I have a 2001 Dodge dakota r/t 5.9L and it has 3 cats on it. It's not very loud and pisses me off :(. Anyways I was told if I put dumps on it instead of the dual exhaust i have it will be much louder. Will it really be a lot louder than my dual exhaust that i have now? I have 2.25" tubing btw.

I've had my flowmasters dumped by the axle for several months now. What i have noticed is a definite plus when at WOT. Athought it ma be drony at times( long drives at 65+ with auto trans) But when I stomp on it it is a pleasure and those around you wonder wats under te hood?

Hey Scuba, It sure did! with them dumped, the tone resonates throughout the bed. If you dump them you'll have to get used to some interior noise though! At first I thought they were too loud, but after a short while I got used to them, and now, after I built my homebrew, I like it even more! You will notice alot of folks raggin on Flows, But I really do like mine.( flowmaster 40's, single in dual out. 2.5in, dumped at the axle, Lakewood traction bars, K&N homebrew intake painted solar yellow. Future mods to come!

Scuba, I originally wanted to run duals out the back. I had them dumped and was going to have them continued out the back later on, but I really got to enjoy them dumped. My muffler guy tells me that if I wish to guiet them a little I can always have them thrown out the back and that will get rid of some interior noise, but I decided to keep them dumped because I am comfortable with the sound I now have. Some folks like the Dynomax sound but I'll stay with my Flows. Yes I do have an increase in performance, sound and my fuel economy doesn't seem to suffer either. Maybe you will want to try them dumped first, you can always have them continued out the back if you don't like the sound. My cost to have them installed was about $135, to do more will run about 50+ dollars.

Not really sure, I guess it is a personal thing. All I know is that those of us around here seem to steer with them dumped. I know I will lose some sound if I carry them out the back, and I have chosen just to keep them dumped. Just the other day I was parked in a customers driveway, started my truck and his eyes got real big! Then he asked what I had under the hood? I opened it and all he could say was WOW! I painted my intake and stock hat yellow and changed all the cable wraps from black to yellow and cleaned the engine compartment a little. It gets great responses. As far as the sound, well, He thought it was great!

I have an '01 CC 4.7. I have a 40Flow single in /dual out. Used to run the pipes out the back and under bumper. After I got the roll pan on I decided to dump them straight down from the muffler.
Considerably louder! I love it. Really shakes the ground and lets everyone in every direction know when you get on it. I love it. Plus you don't have to worry about some punk kicking the tips,,,,or breaking a hanger or anything,,,,very low maintanence and cheap too.
