Subject: Question on 4.7L history

Message:
Hey guys, What year was the 'high output" engine introduced in the jeeps? I thought that all the jeeps bearing the 4.7L had the HO version, until I found this site
http://www.wjjeeps.com/engine.htm
Only thing that makes me wonder is, we all know people were using the HO cams/intake long before 2002 model year came about, so what gives??

I'm wanting to go on a scavenger hunt through some junkyards to leech a few parts from some Jeeps, but need to find out for sure what year to start with...

I think early 2002 or very late 2001 is when the first of us started using the HO parts. I'm sure the 2001 Jeep GC had the 4.7L HO available to it, or it could have been the 2002 model being sold in mid to late 2001, and hence the late 2001-early 2002 usage of the parts by the Dakota crowd.

Yeah I did some searching, and I guess time has gotten away from me, I found a post where CW had just put his cams in, and that was I think march of 2002, which was still before I had my truck. Just forgot how long I'd had it I guess :P
