Hi ya'll!
My names Chris and i just recently purchased a 2003 Dakota 5.9R/T. Its silver, standard cab, short bed.
Its a nice truck, its got the Chrome Wheels, and a factory tonneau cover. Pretty sweet truck.
I was wondering about hopping it up tho? I have heard that cat-back systems actually cause the 5.9's to lose power, while, a Cold Air Intake, TB's, and a set of headers, produce a pretty good gain in power.
Any truth to that?

Increasing flow and reducing back pressure in the exhaust system will not decrease power in your truck. Exhaust, intake manifold, programmer, chip, supercharger...etc..
