Have just noticed that my temp guage is getting over half way now with the heat here. When the engine is hot and you shut it off, should the fan still turn freely?? I know at the morning start I think it still whines up, but when its hot and the motor is off should the fan spin easy???

Cal,

All daks aren't made the same. Maybe you could let us know what engine, Tranny, year, cab, etc., and someone can help.

My clutch still turns freely, all the time, on a shelf in my garage! Haven't had any belt clutch, or fan on it for about two years.

Someone with a 97 5.2 and heating problems posted in the Performance board that if you can turn the clutch fan more than 1.5 to 2 turns after shut off then the clutch is going. His turned 20 times :-( HTH.

Fan clutch was bad but the main problem was the thermostat,it was stuck 1/4 of the way open. A friend told me just to let it warm up and feel the top hose and the bottom hose. I did it and the top hose was hot and the bottom hose was cool.
He was right, thermostat was bad...
