Message: I see a lot of mis-information here. The Fram isn't a bad filter. There is actually very little difference in the quality of most filters. I have a 1975 Ford pickup that I have had since new. Still drive it all the time. Runs like a top. Of course I do the maintenance myself on a regular basis. I repair all 6 of my vehicles. Always have. Change the oil and filter on a regular basis. When changing the filter always check to make sure the old filter gasket is removed. (As mentioned above it will cause leakage if you don't.) Clean the area where the new gasket will seal. Checking your oil every time you get gas, or more often if you would like, will prevent many problems. Check all your fluid levels at least once a week. And if you do the proper upkeep on your vehicle you too will someday be driving vehicles that are 36 years old.

Message: yeh i know this is an old thred but.....
I have been using Fram PH16's and Pennsoil 10/30 on my 95 v-6 since i bought her off the lot in Jan 1995. Maybe 6 times in her life has there been another filter strickly do to lack of avilbilty at the time I was doing the change. The engine/5spd trans is still all orginal except water pump (1 change out and 5 cltuch jobs) and of course basic maintaince stuff. It currently has over 250000 miles on it, has been in it's second truck, (a 94 ext cab) for over a year, (changed my 95 to a 360/stick)and still passes smog every 2 years with flying colors. Have the papers to prove it. I keep all records to track of any possible problems between smogs. Little lower on power but not afraid to pull anything or pass some jacka*& blocking traffic. Still can hit 100 plus and not afraid to push it. I put frams on all 4 of my vehilces, my son puts them on his 2 and even my daughter uses them. I trust them. Will be taking it out for a rebuilt in 2 months after I brake in my new 360 and save a little money for the build up. So ill see what 17 years of frams has done to the motor. Not rebuilding cuz I have to but becuse she's earned it and there are a few minor oil leaks. So ill let you all know then whats inside when I open her up.
