Subject: Starter fuse Blows when trying to start IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2000 dakota quad cab, with the 4.7 and auto. Yesterday, when i tried to start it nothing happened. It had blown the 50amp starter fuse in the engine compartment. I swapped out the fuse and it did the same thing. Is it the starter thats bad, or is the problem someplace else. Anew starter for it is $180 which is not cheap, so i don't want to buy one if i don't have to, Can anyone help me
Thank you

Message: To blow your starter fuse, something's probably grounding out. I'd suggest you look at all the electrical lines in the iginition for a bad connection or wire. Try removing the connection on your starter alone and see if you still blow the fuse, this will tell if the starter (or its connecting wires) are involved at all.

Message: maybe the starter is seized which is pulling a large current to turn it, thus blowing the fuse. Any body else?
