Recently on my 96 5.2 dak with 70k on it i have seen the oil light come on. When it gets alittle hot out (temp guage showing half way) and its idling for a bit in traffic it comes on for a sec and then goes out.? It seems like the oil pressure is also running a bit low.? Have always since new changed my oil every 3 thous miles...Am running 10/40 vavaline in it...Any Ideas???????????

Not one of you have any ideas???? I am going to run a oil pressure test on the motor and see if it is only the gauge.

Cal, more than likely it's just the oil pressure sending unit that's gone sour. It's way down behind the intake beside the dist. You need a REAL deep 1& 1/16 socket or the special one for the task. Unplug it and spin it out. There are different calibrations from DC but your dealer should set you up. Aftermarket ones seem to cover all appl. and in my experience work just fine. P.S., if you want to test your oil press., this is a great spot to put the gage.

I want to thank you Lil Blk Dak for your reply. This site is very good for learning all the tricks of the trade. It never fails that there is always someone out here that has been there and done that. It saves alot of time and trouble to read all of these subjects before starting on a project....Thanks again....
