Next thing you'll wanna do is the exaust... Headers and intake are the starting, with exaust work then you open up the potential of the engine and get the most outta all the other upgrades you'll do.

As for racing, if you got the auto, thats the easiest way. Ideally you'd know were your torque and horse max points are (it does differ a bit from engine to engine, and will definetly with engine mods) and you'd shift just after those points.... The biggest thing is the start, you want your torque to be as high as possible off the line without spinning your tires. If you have the auto do a brake stall (one foot break, one foot gas) and find the best RPM to not spin em' but get max acceleration.

I must warn you though, any hard launch like this can be hard of the drive line, excpecially if you put bigger tires/suspention lift.

Pat - Ex nihilo nihilus

Nothing wrong with Flowmaster or Magnaflow. They flow better than stock muffler but doesnt do much good if you leave the stock catalytic converters on and stock manifolds. Since you have headers then I would definately go with after market cats. I have magnaflow on my Ram and it sounds great. I am assuming you are not going to have your RT race only so you dont need 1 chamber race mufflers. Flowmasters are just fine but the only thing is- just about everybody has them. Few Magnaflows and Borla is pretty rare (but may not sound quite right on a truck).
