Subject: Bad TPS Sensor?? IP: Logged
Message: I think I have a bad TPS Sensor and I wanted to see what you guys think. First, what is the likelihood of the sensor going bad? Second, I did have the voltage set to .76v and had no problems until a couple days ago. A couple days ago, it started to idle funny, so I adjusted the voltage to .69v or .72v, I start the motor it runs idles fine at 600rpms until I give it some gas. Then it "rev idles" between 700-900rpms and the voltage changes to @0.90v (I checked it after turning the motor off), but no check engine light ever comes on. I did recently put in the Jeep HO cams a week ago, but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. I've also reset the PCM to make sure that wasn't the problem. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks, ~Tracy

Message: Well, the answer to my own question is yes, it was the TPS sensor. Not sure if modifying it to adjust the voltage had anything to do with it going bad, but I don't think that I will be messing with it again. Not worth the $66 it cost me to replace it.
Lesson = "free" mods are not always free.
