Message: Does anyone have the spanner wrench (special tool 6958) that they wouldn't mind sending me the dimensions of? I have access to a laser cutter and I'm going to see about making one.
Thanks,
Dan

Message: Some got by without, but be careful or you can shear the indexing pins. Best way around it is breaker bar on crank bolt to hold everything while torquing gear bolt. I couldn't with a plow frame in the way and just held cam tightly with a big pair of water pump pliers.

Message: When I did my cams I found a simple spanner wrench at tool supplier. It would be easy to make one like it. It is basically a big nut cracker, the kind used to crack pecans or walnuts, with two small studs protruding perpindicular at each end. I had to grind down the studs to fit into the holes in the cam sprocket on the one I bought. You could probably drill two holes in the ends of a large pair of pliers and run a small bolt through the hole secured with a nut and leave about 1/4" of the bolt protruding past the nut for the studs. The holes in the sprocket are about 3/16 in diameter. You would be holding the pliers by the head and the handles could be scissored in or out to fit the hole spacing. Would have done it myself if I thought of it before I bought the spanner wrench that is basically the same setup.

Message: As kowalski said above, a breaker bar on the crank bolt does the job quite nicely. Assuming of course that you have enough hands to hold the breaker bar and torque the cam sprocket bolt. In other words, if you are going to do this without a spare set of hands, finding/acquiring/making a spanner is not a bad idea.
