I live in Mn and was wondering if anyone who lives in the colder climates takes out there intake system and replaces the stock box for the winter because cold air is good but not when it's 20 below so I was just wanting to know if they leave it in or take it out if they leave it in do you have problems get better fuel economy in winter hard starting or is there no change from summer to winter. My truck is a 99cc5.2L3.55auto2wd

Personally I dont see any problems with that on newer vehicles like yours. I live in WI so I know how cold it can get. I'd say go for it, and if it performs poorly then I'd put the stock air filter box in. Good luck! BTW where in MN do you live? I'm in LaCrosse county.

My K&N genII runs great when it's bellow zero this is a great advantage of port injection.The factory air box on your 5.2 takes in outside air from the same place a K&N does ,it's just restrictive.

I have a 96 Dakota 318MPFI 5 spd and I have the K&N Gen II intake and I live in Duluth MN so I know what cold is also I just have the lake effect and my truck starts and runs fine but the mileage dropped about 2 mpg or so but that's true for most vehicles in the winter.
