The best throttle body for a stock 4.7 is the stock throttle body ;-)

I'm assuming by your username that you have an '02 dakota which means you already have a 68mm TB. Starting in 01 Dodge started to use the 68mm instead of the 65mm to make up for adding precats in the y-pipe to make every truck meet California emmissions. So a for a stock 4.7 the 68mm is ok. If you have some mild mods (Intake, Cams, Headers, etc.) you could step up to the flowmetrics 70mm.

Get the 70mm Fastman, and let the mods begin! I think with more air coming in the gain is between 5-10hp, and the stock tb is not 68mm on the '01-up, it is more like 65mm with the restrictions it has in it.

Hey sildak,

You said you didn't see any gains from the tb mod. Which one did you put on? Did you have any other mods with it? I am curious, because after I did the H.O. cams and intake, I didn't notice a big gain, but when I put the Fastman 68mm on, it really lit up the power. So I can say that it worked really well. Maybe you need bigger mods for it to use the extra air.

oh, I IM'd with that kid for a while, he couldn't decide if he had 22" or 18" rims, and stated he has a supercharger from a lightning. And had the attitude of MAYBE a 14 year old. Kids sure are funny these days.

Sorry guys for jumping in here, I'm new so be easy on me.

I just bought a 2003 Dakota 4x4 club cab, 4.7 5 speed standard. I want to add a K&N cone air filter. The square hat I guess is what it's called that is connected to trottle body has some sort of sensor connected to it. The dealer can't find it in the manual and he says it could be regulating the amount of air that goes through, would anyone have an idea if this is true
Thanks Guys

I think that may be the map sensor, but I couldn't tell you for sure, I have a 2002 and it isn't in the same spot. If you get a K&N, get one of their kits, and it should have a spot for the sensor, or give them a call and they can help you out.

Later,

Andrew

I think you are referring to the IAT sensor. On the '03, it is a wire with a plug that connects to the left side of the box. I just installed a 360 AirIntakez on mine. That particular CAI has a hole to plug that in to.
