Message: hey guys, maybe you all can help me. I have what sounds like tire noise coming from my 98 cc 4x4 5.2. you can start hearing it at about 35mph all the way up too as fast as I go. It quits though if I turn too the right slightly. I already had the wheels balanced, didn't help. checked the drive shafts, differential levels, u-joints, jacked up and checked for loose bearings front and rear. put it in neutral while driving and it still makes noise. also tried shifting in and out of 4x4, didn't help either. there is a slight vibration also. and it's not the tires 'cause i haven't changed them lately and they didn't do it before. any ideas pleeeease!!!!!!!

Message: Have you checked for a front end allignment? Not trailing true can sometimes lead to vibration and noise.

Message: hammers, thanks but today i pulled the front hubs again to check the bearings better and it came to mind that if i swapped sides on them i could detect whether or not one was bad. well i did, and the noise went away. so it looks like i need new ones.

Message: dude, i can almost guarantee u it's a wheel bearing! i've had this problem on 3 of my omnis. exactly the same symptoms. what happens is water gets in there & that's bad news. the bearings rust & begin 2 wear extremely quickly! if the noise gets louder the faster u go, it's a wheel bearing. also, with u saying about turning a certain direction, that is exactly what i had. i hope i could be of some help. that's what mopar brotherhood is about! please let me know if i'm wrong so i can swallow my words

Message: It may be a broken belt in your tire. If its not too bad it won't make noise untill the tire is ran at high speeds thus stretching it a bit and causing vibration/noise. A possiblity.
hope this helps.
