I've got a 92 V8 5.2L Ext Cab Auto Gen II.

My air conditioner is not working. Fan and heater etc. work fine.

The Freon was just filled and is fine and the condensor/compressor is fine.

Guy I know said it was some kind of switch in the air conditioning core (?).

Any ideas? He quoted me about 200 to fix and said that the problem was most likely in the cab. Said the part was 30-40 dollars but labor intensive.

Any advise would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Josh

Sounds like Mr "Guy I know" is going to hang parts. His guessing, and anyone else's will cost you more than a proper diagnosis.

Hey Josh, your problem sounds electrical. First, check all fuses. Or probably the cluch cycling sw. or even high press. cutout sw. has gone bad. If you start your truck and turn the a/c on, look to see if the front of the compressor is spinning ( the plate in front of the belt pulley). If it isn't, unplug the big round black connector on the h-block(located on the alum. block at the firewall where the a/c lines go into the cab). Jump the 2 terminals inside the plug ( a short piece of wire will do)- the comp. should start up. If this doesn't work, I'd need the truck here to fix it. P.S. get another opinion before throwing parts at it and you need a pro to change the sw. I described.
