Subject: intake exhaust mods done IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys. Just some opinions you guys probably already know. Bought the airraid intake, throttle body spacer couple of weeks ago for my 2001 4.7L CC 5spd. I gotta say it was a very noticable boost in hp/trq. Spacer does give a whistle sound in light throttle situations cruising around town. I just installed the 3" magnaflow cat back single pipe on the weekend. Almost feels like I lost a bit of power, if not the same as before. Must say it sounds really nice though. I got talked out of the gibson 2.5", and I'm not regretting it. I went for the 3" with the thoughts of supercharger down the road. Those guys saying you increase power with the cat back lie. Personally, I'd think you'd have to take that restrictive cat out before any more power is freed up. I'm looking at headers next. When I do those, I'll be getting a high flow cat. Any suggestions between JBA, Gibson shorty's, hedmann?. I need to be able to pass emissions aswell. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Also, from there, where would i look for more power?

Message: chopping your cat will not get you more ponies, it will hurt you more because 4.7's need back pressure...a catback has the power advantage after you get some other mods done (throttle body, HO cams etc.) but you lost power because the 3" made you lose back pressure and it doesnt have many mods to work with on your truck, gaining power is all about how your mods work in conjunction with each other, dont assume you gained 12 hp from your air intake just cause the box says so...

Message: Headers are a personal thing. Met a guy with a 4.7, JBA headers and I could notice a big difference in both sound and Performance! So much so, I've decided to go with JBA's! Could go for the MOPAR headers but would cost $$$$$ as everything MOPAR does!~
