if you buy a mopar PCM i think it either gets rid of the speed limiter or knocks it up 10-15mph...

I never get it over 100 mph because of that stupid speed limiter. These guys with the chips and stuff are leaving me when i really have alot of engine left that i can't use because of that computer. I just called local dealer and he said there was not anything I could do with it under warranty.

As far as I know you cannot get a mopar PCM for a vehicle that is newer than 2000. Your only choice right now is a Flash by B&G Chrysler or ASE Performance Products, or a JET Module.

I know that the ASE one will remove the speed limiter, not sure about the JET or B&G Chrysler.

Hope this helps you out.

Good luck. I installed a S/Cer from kenne bell and they would not tke the thing off. It's actually 96 mph the thing craps out at. Very frustrating. Not that i want to go much faster but even 15 mph would make me happy. I just don't want to run out of mph before i run out the 1/4 mile!!!! And not having those ricers finally catch up to me and pass me at 160!!! (kmph i live in Canada)

It seems like superchips, hypertech, diablo, or someone would make something for the 4.7's.

Ryan,
You can bypass the speed limiter on your truck. Do this at your own risk. Just before you hit the speed limiter around 95 mph, turn the key like your starting the truck and hold it in the start position. I've done this twice. Once when I was doing a dyno run, and once when I was racing an Integra. I was concerned before I did it about the starter trying to ingage the fly wheel, but I believe that if the engine is turning Rpms in gear the starter will not ingage. As I've said I've done it twice and it works. The speed-o drops to zero but all the other gages keep working, so you won't know how fast you are going, but know what speeds your tires are rated at because you do not want those coming apart on you at 120 or so mph. Like I said try it at your own risk.

God damn communists and their god damn speed limiters. If I want to drive like a maniac I should be able to.... If I die... so what, I probably deserved it going that fast in a pickup truck. If they are going to put a limiter on my truck and refuse to take it off, I demand they put one on every car including the viper! Lets see how long it takes before the dealership changes their mind about that!

They took mine up to 120 mph during the dyno run, and that was in 3rd. Switch the OD on and I wonder how much faster it would have gone?

I bet your truck is a standard though no_one. I think its the auto's that are governed so low.

its supposed to be the drive shaft that craps
out at 120mph, no the tires. My 01 had an
aluminum driveshaft and was governed at
98mph. this blue bitch did 135 before I got
sketchy and let off the gas.

the difference on some peoplegoing 97 mph and some going 118 mph is the stoch tire ratings you could change your tires like I have. I have done massive research on this, and I have only two ways to help this 1). get an ase chip (jet does not work), and 2). is change tires and take the truck back to the dealer and they can program into the computer 1 of 3 different settings for the speed rating. hope this helps.

My thoughts on the tires...my grandfather has a 1957 Chrysler 300C. That car does 155 mph, but back in the day they didn't have radial tires even, but now they put speed ratings on them?

Dont try the ign key thing on a 5 speed. I tried it briefly at idle clutch out in neutral and I could hear the starter engage. I dont think I'll try it on the road.

Maybe its only and auto trick.

Has anyone with a 5 speed got a way around the speed limiter?

Funny how the clutch needs to be engaged to start the truck!!!

Andy. It's about everyone in America being lawsuit happy. We live in a society where you are required to protect someone from being stupid instead of letting them live with the results of it.

A quote I love "The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?"

Yes, a quad cab can go over 100mph. Just because it has 4 doors dosen't mean the thing wont go fast. Not much difference between a quad cab and my SLT ext. cab. Some folks say to bypass the limiter by turning the key, I say just go for it! Over all vehicle weight is not much different and the engine can surely churn out plenty of horses to get where you want to be!!!! Have fun, be safe, we all love these DAKS!!!!!
