Subject: 46RE downshift problems IP: Logged
Message: I have a 99 RT with the 46RE tranny and is has recently developed a downshift problem. When driving nomally it shifts fine through all forward gears and reverse, but when I press down the accelerator it downshifts and the engine RPM's increase but the truck doesn't accelerate much the trans seems to hold the engine at about 3000 rpms and it want upshift on its own, I then back off of the accelerator some and it upshifts. I have changed the tranny fluid and filter, and adjusted the low-reverse and kick down bands, but this hasn't helped. So...I was wondering if anyone would know of the cause and a possible solution to this problem. Thank You for any help.
