Message: What's the possibility of the 2004 Dakota R/Ts having the 5.7 Liter Hemi?? I'm planning on trading my 99 Dakota SLT 4X4 in on a Dakota R/T really soon. I'm hoping that the Hemi will come in the R/T.
Does anyone know when the new '04s will come out?
Thanks
Will

Message: Sorry Will, according to some folks who work within DC there is no '04 R/T in the Dodge lineup. If it does get reincarnated with the Hemi, not likely until '06. Needs a styling change to make it fit properly and the Dakota will be 8 years old with this design making the timing about right.

Message: 2003 is the seventh year for the current body style (GenIII), already a record, unless you consider the cab rearward from '87-'96. I highly suspect 2003 is the end of the R/T setup, if for no other reason D-C's phase-out of the 5.9 useage. My guess is the next performance Dak will be "SRT" something.

Message: I like the current body style. I can't believe it's been around 7 years. Remember when trucks were redesigned every 10 years or more? Those were the days before yuppies got tired of driving SUV's around and pickups were affordable. I don't like the new Ram's as much as the older ones. I like the new HO Cummins though, just can't justify one. I'd like to see more diesel engines in vehicles like the european cars are doing. They get great power and better gas mileage. Plus newer diesels are starting to bridge the horsepower gap while still making much more torque than gas engines and are getting very quiet. Then I wouldn't mind paying these rediculous prices.

Message: Yeah, i kinda like this body on the Dak. I think the new durango looks butt fugly and even though it has a hemi in it i still wouldn't buy one. Besides, when a trucks body style stays the same for a while, design costs shouldn't rise too much, and hopefully the price of the truck won't rise as much. I also think its fairly dumb for DC to invest their time and effort into a cylinder deactivation system for the newer trucks until they learn how to build a proper tranny again. Remeber the days of the 727? Now we are stuck with the 42-48 RE series.

Message: Hey guys,
I'm not arguing with anyone, but I was told by a guy at Brenners Dodge here in PA, that the 05 dakotas would have the hemi in them... I know there is atleast one in the works here in Harrisburg.
Just my 2 cents...
