Message: I had the opposite problem on my '97 5.2l. The front passenger side caliper had a bolt that kept on loosening, and it made the truck pull hard to the left when braking (I had about 40,000 mi at the time). A new caliper and rotor later, it was fine.
With yours, the problem could be with the piston not retracting all the way, or something similar.

Message: At 46k I am getting a lot of CLUNKING when I hit the brakes. I also get the noise at stand still. After looking at the front brake set up, the calipers just float on the rotors; and the pads rest against part of the backing when you stop. At 40k, the retainer clips that hold the inner pad to the piston had rusted completley off!! Even after new pads and turning the rotors, I hear the CLUNK. It is starting to get annoying as hell! I wonder if replacing the rubber bushings that hold the caliper bolt will help? or is the noice coming from somewhere else??
