Subject: Stalling....help!!!!

I have a 97 CC with a 5.2 V8...two weeks ago I had a rough time starting it...and then it would drop the RPM's extrememly low and almost stall but never did...and then it quit and just this past weekend it started to do it again and it actually did stall...then it stopped and then two days later (today) it stalled on my 5 times on the way to the store right across town...it only drops the RPM's when you let off the accelerator and the only thing that my dad and I could come up with is a clogged fuel filter or something...but then I remembered that the retards at DC did away with the inline fuel filters in 94...any help would be greatly appreciated!

You might try running some injector cleaner thru it. Lucas Oil makes a good one that I use in my 97 CC 318 4x4. A gummy deposit forms on the end of your injectors and prevents them from spraying properly. It is a good idea to use a bottle of cleaner every 4 or 5 tanks of gas. Also I think there is still a fuel filter underneath the truck. Should be at about the back of the cab on the inside of the frame.

Forgot to mention that there is also a recall on that year model that has something to do with the fuel line crimping. Check with any Dodge dealer and they can tell you if it has been done and if it hasn't they should do it free of charge.

CJ ... have you cleaned your throttle body, especially the IAC motor on the firewall side of the tb? The IAC and tb itselft gets coated with carbon deposits quite easily. It's inexpensive and one of the first things that I would look at. Your description indicates that it's not an ignition problem but sounds like a failing fuel pump is a possible culprit. HTH.

Do a load test on the battery. Low battery output will restrict operation of AIS motor.
