Message: Kind of off of the subject. About how much horspower
will a 5.9 have with a mild procharger. Im not sure what
kind of procharger or anything, but I've got two friends
arguing about a 99 5.9 with a procharger and a 99
Firebird Formula with cool air intake, performance chip,
and Borla Exhaust (estimated 340 - 355 HP) I'd like to
shut them up, because the kid will probably never get
the procharger so we will never find out... Thanx

Message: I just have to say. You know those darn fart cans (ie: honda's, econo boxes, etc) that runs around on the streets that rev's their engine and think thier hot sh!t. We'll I can't believe i'm hearing this kinda stuff in this forum.
The truely fast don't brag. Most of the time it's the driver of those fart can's that gives them a bad name. So, let's not have Dakota and Durango owners jump into that same boat.
I just read today (Sport Compact), over at discount tire, when i was getting my tires balanced, that there is a Supra Turbo, puttin out over 1,000 hp here in Phoenix. 1/4 mile trap speed over 150+. Stock buttom end. Wow. Next he will be puttin a 150 shot of nitrous and a Chevy 400 tranny. That will put him into the 8's at over 160+.
I really admire anyone who has the time and money to make their toy go fast. But, this (i'm better than you stuff) has got to go.
Yes, i do own a 96 Camaro SS. Yes, it's not the fastest thing out there. But, I don't care. It's just a lot funner to drive than my 2000 5.9 Durango. Especially up in the mountains on the twisties. Anyone that has a nice vehicle should be proud of their piece. However bragging should be left to the drivers of those fart cans.
Peace!

Message: Anyway,
Lingenfelter has always been my favorite tuner of them all. Always winning all of the car&driver and Motor Trend Tuner shootouts.
This one is one of his creations.
0-60: 1.97 sec
1/4: 8.95 sec @ 153 mph
Top Speed: 240 mph
hmmmmm. See, i admire the guy that owns this beast. The best thing is, this is a true street car and not a chopped up fart can that only makes noise. Yes, it might be expensive, but this is what you call "Class".

Message: What causes me to laugh is the individual on page two that said the Lightning is over rated and over priced.
Lets touch on the over priced comment for a minute or two. In my opinion, paying low 30's for a Lightning isn't bad at all. You get quite the performance truck for the money. For comparison sake, last year I witnessed an extended cab R/T on the lot for a shade over $26.5K. That was about $5500 less than a new Lightning that was about 5 miles up the road. Whether anyone chooses to believe it or not, you're not going to spend a few bucks and be beating L's. After all is said and done, your going to be spending alot of money to get where the L is.
Believe me, I love my R/T. The reliability is great and the fact that the engine is rather behind the times in terms of technology (simple) as compared to the OHC engines, it's wonderful. This truck gets me looks and has people asking me about it every where I go and the performance is quite adequate to boot. The few bolt ons I have done really woke it up. Even though I enjoy my R/T, I won't kiss the ass of Dodge and instantly hate any other truck out there. The L is a great truck and with performance, you're going to pay. The R/T and L are two different trucks and each serves its niche quite well. It's a shame that some people are too stupid to realize this.

Message: Not a 5.9, but its a 5.2 makinh about 300 at the wheels at my weight with my time/MPH using the DSM calculator, which Ive found to be pretty accurate with my freinds 12 sec GN, and another buds 12 sec DSM that have been dynoed. Who knows with a 5.9???
I can attest to SSs running 12s stock, plus a K&N. 2 weeks ago my best freind ran a 12.9 at 108... with a 100 shot (not tuned right I think)he ran a 12.3 at 117. That was with the clutch slipping real bad he said at the top... which is sitting on my garrage floor right now, waiting for a new clutch (whatever the hell he picked out, I dunno) and a resurfaced flywheel.
