sounds like he hit the nail right on the head.
the fastest production car ever tested my Motor Trend was a Dodge Hennessy Viper that ran in the low 8's. It was considered production because Hennessy bought them from the plant (not the dealer) and installed all the parts and sold the car from his business.
Yeah, i am sure there are many people out there that can make their cars faster... big whooptie do! If you wanna compare prices to power... any redneck son-of-a-bltch can buy a 1979 Camaro for $500 and spend $3000 on it and run 9's or low 10s... hell its what my brother did.

Heh heh heh, it sure is fun to get the youngins all riled up. IntenseDak, Graphite, and the other stable-minded people on here give Mopar enthusiasts, and truck owners/modifiers, a good reputation. It's always fun to toss some truthful information at a Ford or Chevy owner and watch them flip out when they realize they don't have a leg to stand on.

to build him/her a 12 sec car/truck, but how
much skill does it take to throw on some
slicks and stomp on the gas...sure cutting a
good reaction time is tough, but easily
mastered. running a "real track" takes a little
more skill.
BTW dak killa what are you drivin thats so bad
ass? sounds to me, what with all this
bragging about "dream cars" that school must
be out for summer. God help us!

Crap. after I made that post last night I realized I made a mistake when I refered to the Camero SS as being the BASE V8 Camero. The Z28 is the base V8 Camero and of course the SS is much better. The Z28 isn't much at all stock, same as the base V8 Mustang, the Mustang GT.
People here LOVE to argue LOL. They said FOrd couldn't make near 400 HP without a S/C i.e. the Lightning, but like I said, the Cobra R made almost 400 (rated at 385 and has tested near 400) with nothing but nicer heads, intake, cams, etc. A S/C on that makes 500HP easy.
And 10 second daily driven 5.0 Stangs is not very common, but has been done for years. I had a Hot Rod magazine that features a car they called "the thing that should not be". They said that because it was a 1986 Convertable Mustang with a .030 over 302, ported, with a S/C and a 5 speed on mild slicks (not tubbed). The guy could drive it to the track and do runs in the 10's and drive it home after each time and it didn't blow head gaskets and the usual stuff that grenades from something blown like that. They said to get 10's usually takes a big block, big slicks and a roof! Hence why they said it was "the thing that shouldn't be."
I wish I still had that edition. That was like 11 years ago.
On another note, the 360 engine is about one of the most dependable runners ever. So no one should ever think I don't like mopar. They're the sh*t!

the last year for the Z28, it was rated at just 10-15 hp under the SS... at 310 to be exact. And the Almight Ford Mustang GT was rated at a whopping 260 hp. The SS was only a package like the RT over the Sport Dakota... wheels, suspension and and badging... well and a different hood and exhaust to add those few extra ponies.

Dak Killa- got to www.hennesseymotorsports.com and look at the 1000TT viper ran an 8.93@149mph. It may not be low 8's, but hell its still in the 8's. Now i dont know what you drive if you even drive at all, but dont come on a dakota board in the first place and start talking about how much better something else is (that i'm sure you dont even own) than what all of the people on the board drive and are dedicated to. What did you just think we were gonna agree with you? and by the way, the new dak's, when they change the bodystyle will have the new hemi in them. and already with just a kenne bell blower and controller they make 535hp. now that would be in a light little dakota. what is your precious lightning gonna do then? and just think if you gave the hemi a nice litte drink of ice-water. aren't those supposed to add around 50-75hp? mmmmm.....Its nice to have MOPAR on your side!

That viper is pretty nice but I'd expect more from a turbo'd V10.

Very nicely said, matt. It doesn't matter what automotive brand you swear by, Mr. Hennessy is an automotive genius. 900+ hp and 1,000+ lb. ft. of torque at the rear wheels in a street legal car is f'ing incredible. Even more exciting is the fact that he'll be making the 2003+ Viper SRT 10s with the performance upgrades and turbo kits. From what I've read, the new 505 c.i. Viper V10 engine is much better than the 488 c.i. it replaced, so the results should be even more phenomenal. I also heard (don't know if it's true or not) that the 505 V10 has it roots loosely based on the old B/RB engines. Good stuff.

My mistake. I must have been tired. The above engine is a Ford 4.6 Liter, SOHC 2 valve pre cylinder that's pushing 1000 HP in the Radial drag class.
I got the info from some online magazine.

hell guys... the SRT-4 that Mike Crawford runs (FWD Mopar Drag Racer) makes 900+ hp with a stock block and head (not that all the stuff in them is stock though). the twin turbo viper is like that McDonalds commercial... "wow thats bizzare... well not that bizzare"
sorry dak killa... wasnt trying to slam you, just tired of everyone typing ignorant posts. And yes, there are a couple of Hennessy Vipers that are over 1100 hp that run 8's on street tires.

And the motor lasts 5K mile, hehee. must be nice to waste money of a piece of sh*t like that. What good is that. I can get more out of a 5.9 for less.
