Subject: old school flex fans IP: Logged
Message: has anybody installed a flex fan on their dak? they're not restictive on the engine and provide extra cooling. i wouldn't rely on an electric fan. besides a flex fan sounds cool when you drop the hammer. i haven't installed one on my truck yet but it's in the works. If you have installed a flex fan on your dak, let me know how it worked out. thanks

Message: A flex fan? I'd have to put on A fan to try one, why? The gauge never gets to halfway on my 4.7 5spd, but that is up north here in cold 'ol HOUSTON/GALVESTON TX!

Message: Yes. Put a flex-a-lite 1519 with threaded adapter and 1 inch spacer on a 95, 318. It is a little more noisy than I would like but it does sounds good would you get on it...Air blows much cooler and engine temp stays nearer to normal under all conditions. Cost was about $100 and installation took an hour. You need a wide mouth wrench. Lost about 1 mile per gallon but got it back with a high flow air filter.

Message: No. The fan clutch is removed. For your application be sure to check for the proper clearances from the radiator, engine and other objects that might be close to the spinning fan. Email the manufacturer and they can help with your install if you decide to do this.
