Message: These aren't real radical cams; mine still idles fairly smoothly at 700 rpm. I would think you would notice it more if your idle is lower than that, I think manuals may be set lower.

Message: Mine idles at 700 or so when it's in gear, but it really needs to be warm before it stops shuttering. It'll act like it's going to stall out in the morning. It only take a minute or two tho, then it's fine.

Message: Put mine in a week ago...and the HO cams do cause a rough idle (compared to stock - I didn't know the engine was running). Now it feels like it is missing.

Message: This seems to depend as much on your idle speed as the HO cams and you can adjust that.

Message: Blake,
IF you have a 4.7, then I think you should know, that this engine has TWO cams. NOT dual over head cam, but SOHC-single onverhead cam, two heads, two cams.
AND NO, mine still idles smooth as silk, I can hear it now, without my third cat. 5spd manual, idles about 600.

Message: that's in reference to the ho manifold. do the cams and leave the 03/04 manifold alone. they are right about that. DO THE CAMS. it will help performance in 03/04. don't do the package though. the loss of torque from the manifold will probably about make up for the gain in the cams. DO THE CAMS. are there subliminal messages in this DO THE CAMS post. DOnt worry about what THE Computer reAing Mentioned to uS.

Message: A disclaimer? I wonder why?
Honestly I don't know if I could ever tell a night and day difference when I did my cams.
I've got the 03 so I left my intake alone.]
When I opened up my 68MM TB I noticed gain on the upper end. I've got a slight flat spot at 2800 RPM's.
Mine idles great even at the LOW 600 or so RPM's. When it's cold and I take off I can hear the idle at a slow coast vary up and down slightly. It kind of sounds cool. But it doesn't vibrate my truck unless I am sitting at a light and barely touch the brakes you can feel the slmost slight lopey idle as it pulsates. The sound of the exhaust is stock sounding tho. I'd like to have a agressive cam lope like I've had on my radical home built small blocks.
This little 287 has some power tho.

Message: The cams will give you more torque everywhere; the manifold will raise where the peak power is. I want power down low, skipped the manifold. With the heavier QC, you might want to do the same.

Message: My QC has lots of power right off idle. It's around 2800 RPM's where it has that flat spot.
Other than that pulling form a dead stop is ok. And it will spin the tires easy. I think my stock 03 manifold is kind of like an in between of the old non HO and HO intakes. From what I hear anyway.
I still can't wait to get my 4.10 gears. I probably wont notice a flat spot then.
