As far as I know, the biggest engine Chevy puts out is a 572 c.i.d. motor with 702 hp, which may be what you're thinking of. Mopar has a 528 c.i.d. Hemi engine that can knock the 572's socks off.
Regardless, what are you thinking, putting a Chevy engine in a Dakota? That's blasphemy! Go sit in the corner!

Fitting?? you can fit anything anywhere, it just depends on how you define fit. I've seen a v10 in a 97 Jeep wrangler, and thats tight...
just depends on what stuff you pound out or sawzall off.

350 Chevy in a tacoma is popular around here in the woods of North Louisiana. that's about the most deranged cross-breeding that i've ever seen, though i'm sure there's worse. after all, everyone seems to make a chevy 350 fit anything. not that i care, Mopar's got my allegiance.
yeah 528 Hemi would more than likely destroy a chevy 572.

can we say over kill? what are you using this big of an engine for anyways? make sure you sturdy up the engine brackets and the frame, all the twist and torque is sure to knock something loose. check to see if your tranny will accomidate such a high horsey engin and you rear end too. don't want to be dropping that pulling out of the go mart.

I like the idea, there is nothing wrong with putting a chevy engine in dodge, ford and anything else, motor enthusiast need to be open minded, if its not your car or truck and you dont have anyhting nice to say, then dont say anything. I would like to put a 350 SB Chevy in my 1997 4X4 Dakota. its a good idea for some people.
