Subject: How does Gibosn compare... IP: Logged
Message: to the other exhaust companies? I am thinking about put a Gibson cat back on my 93 cc 318. The only other companies that make exhaust specifically for the truck (that I have seen) are Flowmaster (just the muffler), Bassani, and Dynomax. I really want the one with the most hp and torque gain. What do ya'll think?

Message: I got a Gibson Cat-Back on my 4.7. Dont know how the numbers compare to the other companies, but I know Gibson claims to have lower interior resonance than others. The truck has a pretty good sound at idle, but kinda quiet...and when you open it up i gets real loud. It gave me more torque I know, exactly how much I cant be sure, I've had the system on there for over a year and I cant' quite remember.

Message: I had the Gibson added about a year ago and on the 4.7 I can say it was perfect for me not to loud at idle but a great throaty sound at WOT.
Going down the Highway it wont drive you nut's.

Message: IMHO, Gibson is decent but too quiet. I prefer Flowmaster and then Dynomax after that.

Message: Gibson Split Rear Cat back is perfect. Low mean sounding grumble at idle, that is quiet enough for your to just sit in your truck and listen to the radio. Its loud at WOT with a very aggressive sound. A Hardcore Flowmaster buddy of mine is absolutely in love with my Gibson and plans on replacing his Flowmaster with one! Now that should say something about the quality of Gibson! Highway makes a little more noise than stock and allows for a windows rolled down, highway cruise without being annoyed by your own truck.

Message: If you want loud go with the Flow. If you want it quieter, go Gibson.
Performance differences should be negligible, so it's really just a matter of taste as far as sound goes.
I have a single out Gibson set-up on my 4.7 and I love it.
My Dad rode in my truck recently and said he loves the way it sounds.

Message: I've got the Gibson single sweptside on my '00 Dak CC 4.7L and it sounds great. Had it installed at a local Midas shop for $40. The cat-back works well with my Gibson shorty headers, Fastman 68mm TB, and Intenseperformance Z-tube. At idle/cruising it's very quiet, mash the gas and the it sings. Around 4000rpm at WOT the sound is incredible!
