Message: I'm getting rid of the bullsh*t infinity system with a real one. To play some digital files. Any of you guys got nice systems and if so what do you recommend?
I'm looking for a cd/mp3/wma (20 - 27 watts) receiver that'll fill up the whole entire cutout of the original system. So far nothing.
Has anyone stuck 6x9's in the rear side panels? Do they even fit? According to Crutchfield.com they don't.

Message: what year truck? If its an 01-03, you will need a dash kit no matter what size you put in there. I dont know about older ones. But, Pioneer makes some excellent headunits. Check out www.pioneerelectronics.com

Message: I've got a '03 Dak QC 4X4. Used a general purpose for the new Dakota, (which BTW is dif than 2002 and older) mounting kit to use my Sony CD/MP3 player which is the common single din size, etc. Also get a wiring harness so you know the wire codes and don't have to butcher the OEM harness.
On another note. There is like NO ROOM for the sub woofer behind the rear seats! I had to use a smaller, more square box with the speaker aiming down which I used on the floor where my daughter sits. She's only 8 so she can just put her feet right on the box without cramping her too much.
Then I removed the rear seat temporarily and cut the bracket down slightly so that when you raise the bottom seat up, you can swing the back of the seat forward to access where I mounted the amp and cross over. The seat brackets still lock in place so the mod works out great.
Just so you know, if you run a subwoofer like a 10 inch etc it wont fit behind the rear seats!!!

Message: I have a Pioneer deck made for GM/Chrysler. I like it, its got MOSFET and an EEQ chip in it. Fits in real nice.
As far as the 6x9's go...I've thought about that, looked into it a little but not too much. You'd have to sorta do a make shift job, and from what I saw they cant be very deep either.
