Subject: Fuel Pump concerns IP: Logged
Message: 2000 DAK, 81450 miles. Replaced fuel pump in October 2002, WHAMO, DAK dies in traffic, won't refire. Dealer says pump dead. I say, but you guys put one on 8 months ago, they say, part is warranted 12 months or 12,000 miles. Sure enough, I am over in miles. Seems this shouldn't be happening, a pump 8 months old failing so soon? Another $500 to replace this thing again. Any others experiencing this kind of problem ?

Message: I also have my fuel tank sitting on the floor waiting for my fuel pump to get in stock at the parts store. I called first to the dodge dealer and yep almost 6 bills for it. I called my local parts place and got it for alittle over 2 bills. My pump was making a loud noise and my truck would hesitate and stumble when you tried to floor it. I am just praying that it was the pump, the sock was alittle dirty also. When you bought yours did everything come complete. The whole thing with pump, and fuel filter and regulator?????? Have you tried a fuel pressure test??? I would think that something else is wrong other than your pump if you are able to drive it.

Message: Do you ever run your tank down to the "fumes"?
Gasoline cools your pump. It may have overheated.

Message: I dont think from 1996 when i bought this truck that it has ever been less than a 1/4 of a tank. And for the last 5 years never lower than a half tank..Check engine light came on, was not able to floor it and pump started to make a loud whine. I just figured it must have been the pump and am replacing everything in the tank to eliminate that hard to get to spot. Stupid me got the check engine light to go out before i read the code...Now only shows a 12...

Message: I didnt personally runa pressure test on the pump. I knew it was getting reqady to go out a day or two beforehand, it would start and die. I told my wife I plan to get a good Holley pump next time and install it myself. I rely on my truck alot and have a hard time when it is down.
