Have been a little suspicious about the way my truck has been running for some time now, so I took it to a dyno tuning shop to see if they could find anything wrong. Apparently, I'm running lean. A/F at wot and 6psi is 12.8 and at 3/4 throttle and 5psi it's 15.0! No wonder this thing has been pinging so much. They said it was running lean at cruise also. Under what conditions is the engine in closed loop? Nobody does a custom flash for a 4.7 with the KB (KB won't even do it). Before I spend a lot of $$$'s for a F.A.S.T. system or something from splitsecond, I was wondering if this could be caused by a bad 02 sensor?

I fattened my lean situation with a set of 21# Bosch injectors. I never had any ping, but after throwing it on the dyno and seeing the A/F, I figured I needed to do it.

Before I add any boost to it, I'm going to up the auxillary injector size as well.

I can also fine tune it with the FTC-1 controller that came with the Paxton kit.

All is well now.

Have you notified Kenne Bell? They might be able to give you a different burn on the optimizer?

My buddy blew his Cobra motor on a stock Kenne Bell 6psi kit... The A/F on his was screwed up too. When he talked with a tech friend of his, he was told they put an agressive tune on those Optimizers for maximum HP. I would recommend anyone who is "Blowin" to check that A/F, and correct the situation real QUIK if something is out of line.

The guy at the dyno shop referred me to Mike Leach. He said he wouldn't do it and he didn't think anyone else would either. I guess everyone has a problem doing flashes for the twin screws. The problem is the boost coming on so soon, they can't seem to get the tuning right. Kenne Bell will not do it, they won't even admit that it's running lean. I'm thinking about getting the FTC-1 or the AIC1 from splitsec. You are happy with yours? The Kenne Bell configuration uses both MAP and MAF sensors. Do you think the FTC-1 would work with that?

J,

Yes, I'm happy with the FTC. I have another program, that I will be downloading into it here in the next couple of weeks. You can play around with it, and I like that.

I'm not sure about the Mass Air setup?
I would give the guys over at Split Sec a call, to see if it would work. If not, I'm sure they would have something that would.

You would definitely benefit from some larger injectors, and you would also have more room to play if you were to get the FTC or the like.

I'm running the DesignIII Bosch X1FE 21lb/hr for the primary injectors, and 42lb/hr on the 2 auxillary injectors. I will be changing the 42lb'ers out when I change the program the next time. Prolly go to 50's.

I think it would help if you switched to a larger tb too (if you are still running the stock 65mm).

It's in the plans my friend.

I want to see if I can hit the 12's first, with stock TB, cams, heads, and intake...

Then the modding can commence.

KRC206 cams, or a blower specific set of cams
HO or short runner sheet metal intake
72MM F&B Throttle body
Worked heads
Intercooler
More boost
