When I purchased my 2002 Quad Cab SLT the dealer showed me that the hp was rated at 245 and torque at 335. I needed this info for towing boats. Below is what the brochure has written...........
Magnum® Next Generation 4.7-liter V8 with 235 horsepower† features a lightweight composite intake manifold, and high-flow cast aluminum cylinder heads (available on Sport, Sport Plus, SLT, and SLT Plus models) "
Here's on a Quad Cab:
" 230 horsepower on Quad Cab California vehicles and all regular cab and Club Cab models.
†245 horsepower and 335 lb-ft of torque on Quad Cab models."
From what this Dodge brochure says the California Quads,RC and CC have 230hp. It's confusing to me.

Two different engines are being shown here. The cc 4.7 v8 has 230 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. (taken right off my window sticker) The other figures that you have- 245hp and 335 lb-ft of torque are for the California version of the 5.9 v8 quadcab which has 250 hp in the rest of the country.

The addition of the tripple catalytic converters to the 4.7L V8 hemi cuts the HP rating as compared to the 4.7L withOUT the tripple catlysits.
Could this the the difference you are seeing in the specs.?

The 360 in a quad cab is 245 Hp. but the 360 in a RT is 250 Hp, this is where you are all getting confused. The 4.7 in a quad cab is 235 Hp.also in the Club cab it is 235 HP. but in California the 4.7 in the quad and club cabs is 230 due to Cali emissions. I just looked at my 2002 brochure.. I have a 2K club cab 4x2 and a 2002 quad 4x4 Dak, 4.7 in both and both have only one cat converter, I am in Washington State.

Ok here is a strange one. My window sticker says "Emissions- U.S. 50 state" and I have 3 cat converters. I suppose that I have the 230 hp version.
It's a 2001, 4.7.

I believe Mass. has adopted the Cali regs as well, don't know how many other states may have as well or if its now country wide. Anyone know if I can still pass emissions without the third cat ? I let another vehicle "borrow" my tailpipe once for inspection, but you can't count on most inspectors going for that. Where there's a will, there's a way !

I believe the 3 cats drop the HP down to 230 HP from the 235. I would think it would still pass with two cats.

OK well guys, looks like the conclusion was finally the cats reduce hp, well yes indeed, i am in CA and i have 2003 club cab, 4x4 and my horspwer is actually rated at 233, i had it tested by some friends that own a mechanical systems analysis lab. So the 3 cats do some damage on the quad cab in CA not on the club. the quad as to what the dealer says is 330, so im thinking its about 327 or so, like mine was... I have been thinking of pulling the 2 cats out, but its tough, they arent in 3 pieces, just 3 setsof filters,,, and i want new exaust system anywyas, im looking for bulky sound...

Really???,, the difference in size doesnt matter to you??? thats why i said its more like one large unit...its abnormally large compared to even my dasds dodge with the 5.9.. and compared to a non CA vehicle,, im guessing it would be large difference.. But Yes your right it is one unit, not like the 01's and 02's where you litterally can tell the difference... but thx for correcting me...
