Message: I was wondering if anybody has any thoughts about having a heat shield on your air intake. I am making a homebrew. I know that the K&N package has one but the airaid doesn't. Should I take the time to make a shield or not? If so what's the best way to go about making one? What material?
Thanks for your thoughts,
Ryan

Message: if your filter is far enough away from the engine and close to the hole next to the radiator, you can take that flap out and it should get some cool air...i dont have a heat shield on my homebrew...

Message: Rubber flap removed: you won't need the heatshield. Homebrews ROCK! Stock airbox w/K&N drop-in / Vibrant aluminum 3" tubes between air box and TB / Fernco 4" intake "bell" / no rubber flap

Message: Well... I made my heatshield out of fiberglass. If you wanna take a look at it, go here:
http://www.chimptopia.com/pimptopia/intake.shtml
More or less it also deflects some of the trash that the engine fan spits out as well and it blocks some of the heat that is coming off the engine.

Message: DarkFury thats a nice home brew you got there. Did you run the truck without the heat shield at all? If so did you notice any performance difference before and after?
