Message: as far as performance is concerned...the exhaust is different which allows for the 5 extra hp. as for styling, it is a bit more costly:
-the suspension is different (lower about an
inch i think)
-the 17in wheels
-and you would want to start out with a Sport to get the bumpers to be the same color, and of course the all important decals ;o) i believe that R/T has the 3.92 gears but maybe not, and it does have the lsd too. some one remind me of whatever i have left out, i am sure that i overlooked something. hope this helps

Message: The R/T has the 3.92 gears with limited slip. Getting a Sport will not exactly duplicate the front bumper, as the Sport has a black top. The R/T is the only version that has a completely body colored front bumper. (Not counting the 2001 Motorsports Edition)
The suspension is about 1" lower and has a larger rear sway bar than the others.
Last but not least, you will need the 5.9L V-8 and specific wheels.

Message: The Motorsports edition I don't think had the bumper completely painted either, it did have a chrome grill on a sport though. You can order the sport quad with the limited slip and 3.92's from the factory, and if you get the wheel and tire package on a 2002 2wd it includes the fender flairs as well. So really all you need are the springs to lower it (I'm sure real cheap off a R/T that was lowered), the wheels and tires (which can be had for about $1000, and the new 16's would sell for at least $500). Also be sure and get the fog lights from the factory as well. I bet you could get the exhaust used off a R/T that was upgraded to a cat back system cheap. I don't know but the PCM may have a little different programming, but I doubt it would be worth the effort to try and switch to a R/T PCM. Do this and in two years everyone will be debating weather or not Dodge made a quad cab R/T from the factory, just like all those 4x4 R/T's running around! Seriously it would be a form of fraud to sell this truck as a "R/T" just like it is to convert a Satellite to a Roadrunner. You can do it but it's only right to tell any future unsuspecting buyers the truth.

Message: why would you waste your money? get a
hotchkis lowering kit (2" front 3" rear) hotchkis
sway bars, a set of 20" R/T wheels (premiere-
automotive.net) a powertrax limited slip diff,
and look much nicer/lower, handle better, and
have larger more original wheels. Thats why I
opted not to buy the R/T...factory package was
like 3000 and wasnt worth it, especially when
you can get aftermarket parts that are much
more efficient and man just look at those 20"
wheels.

Message: When I bought my R/T the package cost $2094 (not counting required 360 and automatic). That $2000 bought $1000 worth of rims/tires, $300 worth of fender flairs, $200 worth of pumber paint, $300 worth of bucket seats, $200 worth of light group, $150 worth of fog lights, $200 worth of 3.92 and LS, $50 worth of leather wrapped steering, and $200 worth of suspension. Total $2600 worth of stuff I wanted for $2000 not to mention a higher resale then an equally prepared sport. This and it's the only way in a RC to get the 360 and it was a no brainer. The R/T I ordered was going to have a final, out the door price of $18,047. I could have built a 4.7 5-speed to be really similar but would have spent as much by the time I was finished just to have the same performance with the added hassle of the 5-speed.

Message: wayne, if that was not a joke, the heads that come on the R/T's are the same as the 318's. if you want to buy the mopar "R/T" heads (which are better flowing heads and will fit both engines as well) you will have to shell out the $1400. they say R/T, but they dont come on the R/T

Message: I have seen two different "R/T" quad cabs in the Houston, TX area.
Both are total black, lowered, R/T wheels, flairs and have the R/T decals. (One has a fiberglass bed cover)
Both are very good looking trucks. I thought they were factory productions.
The next time I see one of them, I'm going to try to get them to pull over so I can check them out.
What does the "R/T" stand for?
I think if you modify your QC to those standards you should be able to put the decals on it...

Message: HSKR, i dont have a QC, but what does it matter if anyone puts a R/T sticker on it? if they get the 360, with 3.92 rearend, flares, suspencion, rims ect. it would be what a R/T is, minus the Z in the vin #.
maby they really wanted a R/T but needed a QC and since dodge didnt make a QC R/T, they made their own.
i personally would take off the R/T stickers (i did on my sport the first day) but if someone really wants to do it to THEIR truck i say go ahead. AS LONG AS IT HAS WHAT A R/T CAME WITH no v6 or 4 banger posers.

Go ahead and build it and trick as many people at shows as you want but always remember a clone is a clone never sell it as a factory original.

Message: Let's just say the reason that in January I was a proud owner of a 2001 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab... and that in February I am now a VERY proud owner of a 1999 Dodge Dakota Club Cab R/T. The amount of money it would cost to replicate an R/T would be rather extensive... if you got the cash.. go for it.
