All i can say is that for me takeing the cat off helped, even though the cat was not clogged. You may end up with a light on in the dash with a fault code for the o2 sensor.I hate to recommend something that may damage your drive line but i tried peeling rubber before and after, definitly better after cat removal, for my truck...

I have a 97 318 dakota and i have one cat. I want to install headers in place of the manifolds and convert it to true dual. What exactly will happen if i torch the whole exhaust off, do i really need a cat? What should i do about the sensors?

I just bought a 02 Dakota with the 4.7. I am planning on cuttint the cat and bought a sesor simulator off ebay. One of the sensors is already bad so I thought why not replace it wth a simulator, plus its cheaper. $98 @ Dodge. $30 on Ebay.

jeremy, what model engine do you have. My R/T has the O2 sensor before the cat, no prob. with removing the cat 'cause it didn't disturb the sensor. Just used a straight length of exh. tubing and two clamp, done.

I just got a new set of Gibson chrome headers and am wondering if it would be worth it to stick on a high flow cat. I don't think the stock cat is clogged or bad, but am wondering if a new cat would be worth it.
