I have a 96 5.2 with 72 thous miles and my check engine light just came on. I noticed first it took a few more cranks to start it. Then when I tried to floor it it stumbled, it did finaly get up to speed though. The only thing i have ever done to this truck was new exhaust cat back a week after buying it. Any Ideas??????? Maybe a sensor but not sure on the one thats bad.

go to autozone they will scan the codes for free

Just called Autozone here in Calif by my house and they said as of last year they no-longer check codes. The mechanics labor union stopped them from doing that because they were taking all the gravy away from them.....

Well alittle up-date--Took off the neg post turned the key on for 30 sec then hooked neg back on and the light went out. It's a 96 5.2 so i cant get a code to show but now no light, but engine still hesitates very bad when you floor it..????????? The light will probably come on soon again as there is still a problem....
