ok i got a problem , a couple seconds after i come to a stop in my 2001 r/t there is a thud coming from behind the cab. if i pull forward a few feet and come to a stop again it will do it again. i thought at first i left something in the bed and it rolled up and hit the front of the bed but nothing is in there. it is very noticable and a pain in stop and go traffic. even if i barely inch forward after a stop and apply brakes again it will do it so i know its not something loose that is moving forward when i brake. any help is greatly appreciated

its not the jack. its not just something moving around cause i checked everthing, plus it takes a few seconds to do it after i stop even if i just inch forward and apply brakes again. it varies in how hard it does it and it only seems to do it after long periods of driving , like an hour or so.

Maybe gas sloshing around in the tank? Could explain the delay. I know sometimes I can feel mine sloshing after a stop but there's no thud.

I have heard that 2000 daks were make without a gas tank baffle. The result is a thud when the gas in the tank sloshes forward when coming to a stop. On my dak it's most noticable with the tank 3/4 full. For 2001 the tank was redesigned with a baffle to stop the "thud". Maybe your '01 R/T was built with a '00 gas tank

My 2003 4.7 CC 5-speed 4x4 does this sometimes. Fells like the suspension unloading. I am planning to put spring clamps on the front of the leaves to see if ti helps it. The roadmaster suspension helped with the problem quite a bit. I also get this kind of banging / onloading If i shift without backing off the gas totally before pushing in the clutch to shift (basically if I don't unload the suspension first).

Does this sound simmilar to your problem?

Chris
