Subject: 2000 Camaro RS 30th anniversary edition

Message:
Today i raced a 2000 camaro Rs (30th anniversary edition). The Camaro was my friends and he beat me by literally 2 ft. My truck is a 97 Dakota sport with a 5.2 ltr 5 spd tranny. His Camaro was completely stock. On my truck i have Borla Duals and a K&N. i was just wondering if my car should be beating this Camaro... any thoughts?

you are correct about that, but i think the 30th anniversary edition has a different transmission. I would think the same that i should be beating him.

I doubt GM put a different tranny in there, most likely just 30th anniversary stickers.

The 30th anniversary Camaro was in 1997 not 2000.
I know because I had a 97 Camaro SS 30th anniversary edition

Anthony is right about 1997 being the 30th aniv. and the RS camaro is slow a Shi#. If you lost to that you shouldn't be braggin about it you should park your truck and go back to driving school....

First off...the 3.8 V6 Camaros had 200hp stock and run in the 15's easy expecially if it was a 5 speed. I used to have a 96 3.8 Camaro and it was so fun when I beat the hell out of all of the big bad V8 trucks. Dudes quit kidding yourselfs just because its a 3.8 and you run a 5.2 or 5.9 that that automatically means your faster. Granted most V-6 drivers suck thats why they tend to lose. The biggiest problem my v6 had was the 3.08 gears, if I would have put 3.73's or 4.10's in it would have ran a high 14 or 15 flat in the quarter. So, don't brag too much about beating a v6 they are just as fast as you are unless modded and the v-6 would win easy. BTW, GM did away with the "RS" when it changed body styles in '98. Later

Those V6 camaros generally run mid to high 15's.
Was at a track 2 weeks ago and there was 3 of them there. Best they could nmuster was a 15.4.

So considering your truck only has a K&N and exhaust work I would say thats about right, as you are unlikely to be running any quicker than mid to at best low 15's.
