Untill they are "broken in". After the breakin period ATF+4 is approved.
I would imagine they're all broken in by now.

Message: Just thought I'd add to this thread. I dropped th etrans pan tonight and changed both filters, also put a drain plug on the pan. I got roughly 7.5 Liters from the drain and I guess there was some in the filters, as I had to use 8 Liters to fill to within the marks on the dipstick. What I am going to do is do another drain, with the drain plug and fill with 8 liters again; which will leave about 2 liters of old fluid or about 14%.
I used Quaker State Multi vehicle ATF and when I do the second drain and fill, I will put 2 liters of Amsoil in.
I didn't notice any difference in the way it drives, on the way home... except I think the tranns engaged quicker when put into gear... think the filter may have been plugged as I noticed a slowing in the time it took to engage, since last year.

Message: Complete Bull Sh1T
read your owners manual
you inbreed!
you warranty can and will be void for not following the car/truck makers oils guidlines
if it says use API certified oils then hey guess what?
and if it says oil changes done no longer then 7500 miles then hey guess what?
Not matter what the oil maker claims!
and infact! if you check scamsoils own written guidlines! they say 25,000 miles or longer but yet
READ GOOD! they also tell you to follow the auto/truck makers guidelines!
why? EASY! cause when the dealer denies your warranty claim an you then go to scamsoil
they can Stand their arms crossed and shake their heads NO!!!!!
cause hey they have it in writting too!
i swear you guys buy into this scamsoil crap like you was lemmings following him through a raging river!
they "the auto/truck maker" WILL NOT and DO NOT have to approve any warranty claims!
IF you DO NOT follow what is required for oil!
you were given everything in writing!
more proof needed? just ask

Message: Sam. Amsoil ATF is OK.
ATF+4 is OK. It's all that you can get if you have trans service done by Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep. ATF+4 is 100% synthetic transmission fluid.
But that's it.
Dexron/Mercon will mess up your trans.

Willie, if the trans was working fine before you changed the fluid and now it's not, that should be an indication of how important it is to use the ATF+4.

Message: Willie if it had the proper rating it should be OK. I had a similar problem. I bought the cheap after-market filters and the filter that is held in place with the tube and one screw must be a little different. The tube slipped out of the orifice. All I had to do was first re-install the seal in the orifice, making sure it was in tight. Then when installing the filter made sure I had the tube in place and tighten the screw with pressure against the seal with the tube. Make sure the screw is tight. I was going to replace the filter with OEM if I had anymore trouble but it's been over 6 months now and it's running fine.

Message: If you put the wrong fluid in an auto tranny you are likely to only destroy the seals and the soft parts. The Torque converter is considered a hard part but there is a catch to it. Indside the modern converter there is a friction clutch that is pressure activated to lock the converter. Wrong fluid can soften this material and destroy the converter. So Willie if your fluid mistake caused any dammage to your converter it will be in the lockup mechanism and that means a new converter for you. Also your clutches and band may have suffered from the same softening (or hardening in some cases) and you may find that your tranny shifts really hard or not at all or you dont even move untill your build up enough pressure that the metal to metal contact where your clutch material was is now great enough to allow some rotation to occur. If you have any of these symptoms stop driving the truck, have it towed home if is it not there already and get your tranny rebuilt (Tow it to the rebuilder if you cannot remove it yourself). By trying to limp the truck home you will generare alot of heat and dammage the hard parts that are usually reused in a rebuild, thus costing you alot more $$$ for your great Wally World deal. When in doubt see a professional at your local autopart store and ask them what you should use. They deal with that stuff every day and they have the specs in a book or computer to get you what you need.

Message: I went back to walmart and re-read the label for the +4 tranny fluid turns out that the super tech I bought is recommended but I didn't replace the seal because I never got one. When I bought the filter it came with two types of gaskets no seal. I also put in 4 qts of tranny fuild.
